LATHC at the North American Champions Cup 2005
LATHC was formally invited and accepted to participate in the 2005 North America Champions Cup, held September 8-11, 2005 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, Colorado Springs, CO. The event is limited to six (6) teams, including USA's participation of the top three clubs based upon the results of our 2005 National Championships in Houston. International presence of the event is represented by teams from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Greenland.
We anticipate a playing schedule that will call for each team to play two (2) regulation matches on Friday, two (2) regulation matches on Saturday and one (1) regulation match on Sunday.
All of the North American nations in the Pan American Team Handball Federation have talked about a North America Champions Cup for several years now. All agree it is a great concept. USA is proud to be the first to actually attempt to organize such an event. USATH is committed to the long-term success of this tournament.
We must ask our top elite clubs to set the standard of excellence. We recognize that you all have done so much, but it is time to do a little more. It is time for our elite clubs to help drive the development of elite handball in the USA. We hope all of you will recognize this fantastic opportunity and honor.
